Dating should be fun – it’s exciting to meet new people, and really good for you when you feel liked and appreciated. If you are nervous about a first date, take a look at this advice.
Don’t be late. It starts things off badly by putting the other person at a disadvantage and probably irritating them. If you are the guy, it’s polite to get there a few minutes early. She can get there up to five minutes late, no more. Try to arrive on time, even if it means getting there early and lurking around the late-opening shops for ten minutes.
Make plenty of eye contact. You have no idea how sexy this is!
Be polite, of course. If you are a man, keep your eyes off her breasts, and on her face.
Don’t show off with your money. Not many people are impressed by this.
Don’t drink too much! This might be difficult if you are nervous, but will only damage your credibility and make you look weak and silly.
Don’t draw attention to the two of you in a restaurant by arguing with the waiter, for instance, or causing a fuss about seating. This is likely simply to embarrass your date.
Listen to your date. If s/he turns out to be the world’s biggest bore, you don’t need to meet up again.
Dress well for your date, and look and smell your nicest. This shows respect because you have taken the trouble to prepare for the time you will be spending together.
Don’t mention past dates and lovers. If you have to, then don’t dwell on them AT ALL.
Avoid talking about sex. It ruins your mystique! Time for all that later on, if things go well.
On a first date, the guy should be prepared to pay. If the woman objects to this, then she can pay next time. If she doesn’t want there to be a next time, and feels bad about him paying for her, then she can try to argue about it, but it’s best not to insist if it will hurt his feelings.
